Mission Statement The mission of the Carmel United Soccer Club (CUSC) is to provide a fun, safe, and healthy environment for soccer players from all communities. Carmel United Soccer Club is committed to developing players and teams to their fullest potential by providing the best coaches and facilities.
History Carmel United Soccer Club was formed in August 1995, through the merger of three Carmel-based youth soccer programs: Carmel Youth Soccer Association (junior boys and girls), Club Carmel (senior girls), and Team Carmel (senior boys). In spring 1999, CUSC merged with the Indianapolis Inferno Soccer Club.
Code of Conduct - Four Parts General Principles:

FIFA Code of Conduct
CUSC endorses FIFA’s rules for fair play: Play the game for the game’s sake. Be generous when you win. Be graceful when you lose. Be fair always no matter what the cost. Obey the laws of the game. Work for the good of your team. Accept the decisions of the officials with good grace. Believe in the honesty of your opponents. Conduct yourself with honor and dignity.
CUSC Players Code of Conduct:
- Understand the laws of the game and play by them.
- Be punctual and prepared for all training sessions and games. (Equipment on, dressed appropriately, stretched).
- Cooperate and be respectful to all coaches, teammates, opponents, and match officials.
- Support your teammates, Club members, teams and coaches.
- Be gracious in victory and dignified in defeat.
- Do not talk to fans during matches.
- Do not argue with officials.
- Talk to opposing players should be limited to congratulations and offers of assistance.
- Do not use abusive or profane language.
- Fighting or physical violence will result in a mandatory suspension; fighting after a suspension may result in dismissal from the C lub.
- The CUSC board will review the status of any player who is ejected from two games in a 12-month period or accumulates excessive cautions.
- No consumption of alcohol, tobacco or illegal drugs.
CUSC Coaches Code of Conduct:
- Understand the laws of the game and ensure that players understand and follow them.
- Be punctual and prepared for all training sessions and games.
- Show respect for your players and opponents.
- Do not use abusive or profane language.
- Be gracious in victory and dignified in defeat.
- The Director of Coaching will review the status of any coach who is ejected from a game. The CUSC board will review a second ejection.
- Do not talk to fans, opposing players, or opposing coaches during games, except to offer congratulations or assistance.
- Coaching from the sidelines during games should be limited and positive.
- Do not argue with officials.
- Do not criticize a player in front of other players.
- Support other CUSC coaches, teams, and players.
- Wear appropriate CUSC attire to all training sessions and games in accordance with club and coaching contracts.
- Tobacco, alcohol, and non-prescription drugs are prohibited during all training sessions and games. In addition, coaches are strongly discouraged from consuming tobacco or alcohol in front of players at any time.
- Coaches are strongly encouraged to refrain from attending tournaments or games with persons of the opposite sex to whom they are not married where an overnight stay in a hotel is required.
- Improper contact or relationships with players will result in immediate expulsion.
CUSC Parents Code of Conduct:
- Provide only positive support during games.
- Refrain from attempting to coach your child from the sidelines.
- Do not criticize your child’s teammates or coaches in the presence of your child or his/her teammates.
- Do not talk to players or coaches for either team during matches, except to offer support, congratulations or assistance.
- No abusive or profane language.
- Do not argue with officials.
- Be gracious in victory and dignified in defeat.
- Parents will not knowingly participate in or knowingly permit violation or circumvention of CUSC, IYSA, or USYSA rules.
- Do not argue with opposing fans.
- Do not criticize opponents in the presence of them or their fans.
- Fighting or physical violence will result in automatic suspension from CUSC premises and activities. Repeat violations will result in expulsion from the Club. Ejection of a parent during a match including stepparents or legal guardian for inappropriate behavior will include a written warning and review of the parents Code of Conduct. A second incident of ejection will result in suspension from CUSC premises and activities.
Any incident involving a CUSC parent including stepparents or legal guardian who is ejected from a soccer match must have that incident documented by the team manager(s) within 48 hours of the incident. The documentation will be submitted to the CUSC Executive Director and the CUSC Risk Manager for review and action. The CUSC board will review the status of any parent who is ejected from a game. If you have a problem with a member of the CUSC coaching staff, please give a 48-hour cooling off period before contacting the individual concerned.
Violations:
- Coaches have primary responsibility for addressing violations by players. The Directors of Coaching have primary responsibility for addressing violations by coaches. Team managers have primary responsibility for addressing violations by parents, in consultation with the CUSC Board member responsible for the age group involved. The Board of Directors will address serious or repeated violations.
- Sanctions that may be imposed include, but are not limited to, reprimand, suspension from team or Club activities and facilities, and in extreme cases, expulsion from the Club. When appropriate, the Board of Directors will report violations to IYSA and USYSA. CUSC will support and impose all sanctions recommended or imposed by IYSA or USYSA.
