Conflict of Interest

Any person that has a conflict of interest is not eligible to serve on the Carmel United Board of Directors or Operating Committee.

A conflict of interest is defined as:

  1. Any involvement in any outside activity, business or employment which may conceivably conflict with a board or operating committee member’s duties or responsibilities or which is not compatible with the best interests of Carmel United Soccer Club.  This particularly includes a board or operating committee member’s involvement as an officer, director, manager or coach, whether or not for compensation, in any entity that is a present or prospective competitor of Carmel United Soccer Club.
  2. Any personal activity that would interfere with the proper performance of the board or operating committee member’s duties or affect the board or operating committee member’s capacity to perform his/her functions or result in conflicting loyalties including, but not limited to, engaging in illegal activities.

EXAMPLES:

Example 1:  A board or operating committee member cannot serve as the coach or assistant coach of a team of a competing travel soccer club.

Example 2:  A board or operating committee member may coach a rec soccer team for another soccer club.

Example 3:  A board or operating committee member may not serve as an officer, director or manager of a competing travel soccer club.

Example 4:  It is not a conflict of interest for a board or operating committee member’s child to play for a competing travel soccer club; provided that the board or operating committee member is not a officer, director, manager or coach of the competing travel soccer club.
